Advanced & Graduate Program Admissions

Do you consider students who are not Florida residents? What about students who have dental degrees from schools in other countries?

The Admissions Office encourages and welcomes qualified applicants to some of our Advanced and Graduate Education programs from around the world. Applicants must submit all application materials outlined in the requirements section. International applicants will need supplemental information as outlined in the Additional Requirements for Internationally-Educated Dentists section of this website.

What are the application deadline dates?

Our many postdoctoral programs vary in their application deadline dates. Completed applications and ALL supporting documents must be received in this office by the date indicated for the specific postdoctoral program to which you are applying. Any application files not completed by the program application deadline will not be considered. Please note that the deadlines for programs participating in PASS are several weeks EARLIER than the college application deadline. This means that you must have your application materials sent to PASS earlier than the school’s program deadline.

What are the admissions requirements?

Admissions requirements vary from program to program. Please check the respective program’s webpage for a complete list of the program specific requirements.

Where do I send my application materials?

All application materials should be sent directly to the Office of Dental Admissions, University of Florida College of Dentistry, P.O. Box 100402, Gainesville FL 32610-0402.

Does your Program Participate in PASS?

All of our residency programs participate in the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) sponsored by the American Association of Dental Schools. Additional application requirements may be found within the PASS website⤷. Information and an application can be obtained by contacting PASS at:

Does your Program Participate in MATCH?

Our residency programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry also participate in the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program. Applicants to these programs are required to register with the match. For more information about the match, contact:

Do you require a secondary application if participating in PASS?

The College of Dentistry does require a secondary application for some programs. Please check our website and also, refer to the additional materials listed in your PASS Application Instructions for each program you are applying to.

When are interviews held?

An interview will be conducted by the program’s Admissions Committee only after it has been determined that the applicant is qualified. Applicants will be contacted to arrange an interview by the program to which they have made an application. Contact your program’s director for information about interviews.

When will I know if I am admitted?

Applications are reviewed by the program Admissions Committee after interviews. Typically, the decision to accept will be made in early spring.

Is there much competition to get in?

Programs vary in their competitiveness, but you can expect programs to have more applicants than places in their programs. Each application is judged on its own merit.

Can I apply to more than one graduate program?

You can be considered for admission to more than one program. However, you must complete a separate application for each program.

How can I contact the department to check the status of my application?

We encourage you to email us your questions concerning the status of application. You may also call our office, but please give the department adequate time to respond to your request due to the large volume of calls that we receive. Upon receipt of your application, you will be notified by mail or email of incomplete or missing documents.

If I completed an application last year, can that application be used for this year?

Parts of applications submitted in previous years may be reactivated. We keep all records for a period of two years following a submission. It will not be necessary for you to re-submit all of the same documentation. However, you must submit an updated online application (and new application fee), as well as a new College of Dentistry application form, for admission to the Graduate School or Post-Baccalaureate programs. You will also need to re-apply to PASS. Be advised that if there have been changes in your credentials or factors which would strengthen your application, they should also be submitted.

What are the tuition/fees and stipends for in-state and out-of-state students?

Is financial aid available?

U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents may be eligible for financial aid. Many factors determine an individual’s eligibility, including previous borrowing and indebtedness. You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)⤷ to be considered for financial aid.Please understand that there are few sources of financial aid for graduate education and that large debt loads from predoctoral programs could limit the amount of aid you can receive. We encourage you to discuss your individual status with Mr. Matt Stubbington, the Financial Aid Coordinator for Dentistry.
