Service & Leadership Opportunities

DMD students perform at Acid Etch Talent Show spring 2017.

UF College of Dentistry’s mission comes to life through its robust student body. From volunteering to working with patients with special needs, to serving as leaders of nationally-recognized student organizations, our dental students make every opportunity at UFCD count.

Taldent Show

Dental Ambassadors, a group of D.M.D. students, encourage faculty, staff, students and residents to showcase their hidden talents. The annual bakeoff and talent show raises money for a different cause each year, such as Smile Train or Super Sealant Saturday, or SSS. The Dental Ambassadors raise money through ticket sales, sponsorships, and the event’s Bake-Off, which has been described as “a fun opportunity to express another aspect of creativity in the UFCD family.”

Super Sealant Saturday

The student-run event provides free preventative dental care and education for children aged 6-17. The event aims to improve the oral health of children in the Alachua County area by providing free oral hygiene instruction, preventative care, sealants and fluoride treatment.

Oral Cancer Awareness 5K

The UFCD chapter of Student National Dental Association (SNDA) coordinates the event which sends the critically important message of early detection and prevention of oral cancer not only to the general public, but also to health care providers who are the front-line specialists in screening for and detecting this disease at its earliest, most curable stages.
