Prosthodontics Program Description

The University of Florida College of Dentistry offers a 36-month degree program leading to a Master of Science in Dental Sciences with specialization in Prosthodontics (project in lieu of thesis option) and a Certificate in Prosthodontics.

This program is designed to satisfy the educational requirements of the American Board of Prosthodontics in fixed, removable, maxillofacial, and implant prosthodontics. An interdisciplinary approach is used to facilitate the diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment of patients. A thorough didactic education is provided through related courses offered by the University of Florida and by seminars and electives.

  1. Interact with his/her prosthodontic peers, general dentists, and specialists in related fields.
  2. Critically evaluate and develop research projects and articles.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to diagnose and manage complex fixed, removable, maxillofacial and implant cases in the prosthodontic field.
  4. Surgical placement and Restoration of Implants.
  5. Prepare for the specialty board examination in prosthodontics.
  6. Support and contribute to organized dentistry through local and national organizations and continuing education.

A stipend is available. Tuition is required.
