Dental Admission Test
minimum scores required, Advice for applicants

UFCD Application and Enrollment Requirements:

  • Applications will not be reviewed by the admissions committee until DAT scores are verified through ADEA AADSAS.
  • DAT scores must be received no later than November 1.
  • When there are multiple testing dates, the most recent set of scores is considered.
  • Canadian DAT scores do not satisfy UFCD admissions requirements.
  •  IMPORTANT: Minimum DAT scores listed below are not typically competitive. To learn about competitive scores, see recent Entering Class Stats.
  • If you are dissatisfied with your scores, you must wait 60 days from your last attempt to take it again.
  • Minimum score requirements for each section from a single test date are:

Minimum Score Requirements (equivalent to 15-point minimums in 2-digit scoring model)

Section Minimum in 3-digit Model
Academic Average 330
Survey of Natural Sciences/Total Science 340
Biology 340
General Chemistry 350
Organic Chemistry 350
Perceptual Ability Test 310
Quantitative Reasoning Test 340
Reading Comprehension Test 300

Advice for DAT preparation:

  • Make sure to allow enough time to study for the DAT.
  • Make a detailed weekly schedule of study time for each subject and for taking practice exams.
  • If you choose to invest in a DAT preparatory course, choosing more than one or two may increase study time and reduce efficiency.
  • Select study resources that are compatible with your learning style.
  • Take multiple practice exams that can highlight weaknesses. Focus much of your effort on these areas.
  • Do not neglect Quantitative Reasoning and the Perceptual Ability Test. Many students perform poorly in these areas when compared to other sections.
  • Take the DAT early in the application cycle (May or June) in case you need to take it again before the November 1 deadline.
