Entrance counseling for Federal Direct Loans is completed on StudentAid.gov. Students can find updates on their counseling status on their Aid Status page in ONE.UF⤷.
Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note(s)
Federal Direct Loan borrowers must electronically sign the appropriate Master Promissory Notes (MPNs). All entering DMD students who plan to take out loans should complete this requirement. MPNs must only be completed once during the student’s DMD program.
There are separate MPNs for the Direct Unsubsidized Loan and the Direct Graduate PLUS Loan. MPNs are completed on Studentaid.gov⤷.
Please note: Graduate PLUS loan borrowers must complete the PLUS application on Studentaid.gov prior to completing the PLUS MPN. The PLUS application would need to be completed once per academic year and for the summer semester, if needed.
Federal Direct Loan Acceptance

Direct Graduate PLUS loans are automatically accepted due to the required PLUS application. Completion of the application is considered acceptance of the loan.
Unsubsidized and Graduate PLUS loans may also be reduced or canceled online prior to disbursement. After disbursement, students should contact SFA-DEN@mail.ufl.edu if they wish to reduce or cancel their loan.
