Advice for eligibility for admission:

  • Refer to Entering Class Stats to learn the average/range of outcomes for predental criteria that are considered to be competitive for UFCD admission.
  • Select a major in a field of study that interests you, however, keep in mind that it may be challenging to register for dental school prerequisite courses if you are not a science major.
  • Meet with your institution’s pre-health/academic advisor periodically to make sure you are on the right track to complete prerequisites and your degree. Advisors will assist you in identifying your strengths and weaknesses as a potential dental school applicant.
  • Throughout your undergraduate or graduate school journey, aim to earn high grades, especially in science courses, to strengthen your application. In addition to overall GPA and science GPA, course load and grade trends are evaluated by the admissions committee.
  • If you decide to take a gap or “growth” year before applying or reapplying to dental school to place yourself in a better position to be a competitive applicant, go to the Gap Year section.
